So why should I care about LinkedIn? Part 2

LinkedIn is an exceptional place to network. I guarantee you know over 500 people unless you’ve been living under a rock. Think about all the people you know from church, hobbies, previous work experience, family members, etc.

You are on LinkedIn looking at available roles and you spot the perfect job. Wait! Before you apply, check to see if you know anyone who works at the company.

First type in the name of the company in the search bar. Secondly, click on people.

Doing this will allow you to see anyone who has worked at that company.

Now let’s narrow it down, click on connections and choose “1st” This will show you anyone you are personally connected with on LinkedIn. This is a great opportunity to leverage your network to give you insight. You can now reach out to those folks and ask for their help. If you don’t know anyone at the company, you can select “2nd “connection. This will allow you to expand your networking. Now you can reach out to your connections and say “I see you know Susie Baxter. She’s a recruiter at XYZ company. Do you know her well? If you do, would you be willing to introduce me?”

Networking is going to dramatically reduce your search time.
